This calendar is brought to you by the friendly volunteer collective of the Madison Infoshop (IWW jobshop I.U. 620)!  We are a nonhierarchical freespace and activist clearinghouse that needs your support to survive and flourish.  Check out our free lending library (videos, books, periodicals, zines), our other community resources (fax machine, computers with internet access, art supplies, theater props, graphix and stencils, megaphones, and button maker). We also host meetings and help organize events.

Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice (WNPJ) Welcomes Nominations for Peacemakers of the Year – 2009!   Deadline is July 31st!

Nomination This form is due back in the WNPJ office by July 31st.  Peacemakers and all nominees will be recognized at the WNPJ Annual Fall Assembly, Sat., October 3rd at the Goodman Community Center in Madison, 4 pm. We hope you’ll make plans to join us in Madison that day, to celebrate their achievements.

The Peacemaker of the Year Award presentations began in 2000. Members and allies from across the region nominate peacemakers from their communities. A WNPJ committee makes the selection for three categories; youth, adult, and senior. The committee will be looking for peace and justice work done this last year. With so many worthy peacemakers, it is often difficult to choose. All nominees will be recognized at the annual Fall WNPJ Assembly – Oct. 3rd, 2009 – Madison – at the Goodman Community Center.

Use the form below to send in your nominations. Make additional copies as needed. The committee reminds everyone that you can re-nominate one of your choices from a prior year. All peace activists in our region are potential nominees, with the exception of those who presently serve on the WNPJ Board or politicians who are currently in office. Previous recipients include:

2000 – 2008 “youth” peacemaker awards to:

Michael Rebholz,  Dana Churness,  Angela Rose, Emily Siekierski,  Bob Poeschl, Sarah Santiago/Elise Muldro, Xiong Xong, Sarah Quinn, Karen Drydyk, & Paul Melling

2000 – 2008 “adult” peacemaker awards to:

Steve Watrous, Bonnie Urfer, Mike Miles, Lynn Larson, Gail Vaughn, Guy Wolf, Janet Parker, Sue Ruggles, and Cassandra Dixon

2000 – 2008 “senior” peacemaker awards to:

Jan Provost, Everett Refior, Lee Brown, June Kjome, Tom Arbogast, W.C. ‘Andy’ Anderson, Fred Brancel, and Del Schwaller, Fr. Jim Murphy, and Sr. Lillia Langreck, SSND

Periodically WNPJ also present Lifetime Achievement Awards determined by the WNPJ Board. Multiple and frequent nominations are a factor in this decision. Previous Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients are Sam Day (2000), Clarence Kailin and Frank Zeidler (2002), Jim Missey (2003), Nan Cheney and Midge Miller (2004), Maureen McDonnell, OP(2005) George Pax Martin (2006),John LaForge (2007),Julie Enslow and John Kinsman (2008).
